our story

The Ray Family.jpg

Tim and Danielle Ray, owners of the Quimby House Inn, a beautiful colonial built in the 1800s,  bought the Quimby House Inn in the summer of 2006 and operate the inn year round. The Inn has large, elegant rooms that are luxurious and maintain beautiful historic details while still offering all the modern conveniences of home.

Tim is a native to Maine. He grew up in Ellsworth, Maine, where his family owned Ray Plumbing and Heating. Tim worked as a Plumber for 17 years prior to purchasing a gas station and convenience store that he ran for 15 years before he and Danielle purchased the Quimby House Inn.

Danielle spent her summers in Maine where her family enjoyed their summer home. She spent her winters in New Jersey, but much preferred her summers hiking in Acadia National Park and working and playing in Bar Harbor. Danielle has a degree in Psychology and is a Massage Therapist. She operates Serenity Garden Massage & Tan Spa located on the first floor of the Quimby House Inn.

Tim and Danielle both enjoy reconnecting with guests who visit the island every year and those new to the island. “The Quimby House Inn is our home as well as our future. We want each guest that stays with us to feel welcome and at home. That's what warms our hearts.”

I just wanted to thank you, again, for providing me with such a wonderful place to stay during my (awesome, wonderful, fantastic) two weeks in Bar Harbor. Although it’s beautiful in Iowa today, I wish I could be back there now! I have great hopes of getting my husband to the island sooner rather than later – and if so, will absolutely check with you first to see if we could stay there again!
