Homemade Spa Treatments To Try This Summer

Written by  Quimby House Inn & Spa

Ok let’s face it, we all love a day at the spa. But since most of us can’t manage to go every day, week, or even month, the idea of homemade spa treatments becomes more enticing. Not only are at home spa treatments a great way to stay relaxed and rejuvenated between your visits to the spa, but they are simple and most ingredients can be found right in your kitchen.

The fast pace of summer makes it hard to find that oh so important time for ourselves. But taking a few minutes to whip up and apply these homemade spa treatments will make all the difference. Each one is quick, easy, and great to cure the summer issues like over sunned skin, oily faces, and overworked bodies.

Avocado Face Mask

If your skin has seen too much time in the sun and is feeling dry, tight, and burned, try this cooling, hydrating mask:

  • peeled and mashed avocado
  • teaspoons virgin olive oil

Mix the avocado and oil together

Apply to face for 15 – 20 minutes

Rise with warm water

Pat dry with towel

Oatmeal Face Mask

If you are one to get an oily face during the summer, you are not alone! Try this oatmeal concoction for oily skin:

  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 yolk of an egg
  • 4 tablespoons of oatmeal

Mix the ingredients into a paste

Apply to face right away and keep it on for 15 minutes

Rinse with warm water

Pat dry with towel

Homemade Salt Scrub

Although the face does require a lot of attention, the whole body can benefit from this homemade salt scrub to make the skin soft and glowing:

  • ¼ cup of sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons virgin olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice

Mix the ingredients together

Apply to the body while in the shower

Rinse and pat dry

If you are simply not a do-it-yourselfer or if you want the luxury of not having to lift a finger to get your spa treatments (which who doesn’t want the royal treatment?) then it is time to book a treatment at your local spa. For residents or vacationers visiting beautiful Bar Harbor, Maine, please join us at Serenity Garden Spa for your next spa treatment.
