There is nothing I enjoy more every year than the first snowfall of winter. Bar Harbor is so quiet during the first storm, especially in the evening, like the snow has muted the world. Looking out from out front windows you see a car go by every once in awhile, sloshing through the snow. It gives me that holiday feeling, like what you had the day before Christmas when you were a little kid. So much excitement and anxiety about the arrival of Christmas and the warm fuzzy feelings of the holiday spirit.
On November 12th, at 6am in downtown Bar Harbor, there are going to be some pretty excited shoppers! Every year, Bar Harbor folks gear up for the Early Bird Pajama Sale, where shoppers don their favorite (warm) pajamas, throw on their hats and mittens and run through town, looking for the best deals on all that Bar Harbor shopping has to offer. An early breakfast at Jordan’s on Cottage Street will fuel you up for 3 hours of incredible deals on house wares at Window Panes, trendy scarves and clothing at The Village Emporium, great prices at clothing and gear at the Acadia Shops, and fantastic prices on designer olive oils at Fiore Olive Oils and Vinegars. So many deals, you’ll need to bring a friend just to help you carry all your bags!

I love the weather in this town! And this summer has been no exception- we’ve had more sun than rain, more warm air than cool, and even though it’s humid a lot of the time, it’s nothing like the depressing humidity found in the South this time of year! The warm summer Bar Harbor weather is what the locals look forward to most in Bar Harbor, and this summer has not disappointed!
Well, here it is, our first blog entry! We have been trying to decide what we wanted to write about for our first blog entry, but it seems like there are so many things going on right now, so it’s hard to narrow our subject down to just one! Finally we’ve decided our first blog will be about the 4th of July in Bar Harbor. We know that this area is very popular during the summer, but the celebrations on the 4th seem to start it all off, and do so with a BANG!
